Rolls Out Rural Steering Committee

highlight group of 51 rural and agricultural leaders
PHILADELPHIA—The Obama-Biden campaign is announcing the formation of
its Pennsylvania Rural Steering Committee, a collection of 51 elected
and community leaders from across the state who are telling voters in
all parts of the state why Barack Obama and Joe Biden are the best
choice for improving rural quality of life. The committee, which
includes Sen. Bob Casey and Rep. Tim Holden, will take the lead in
informing Pennsylvanians of Senator Obama’s rural agenda.
As a Senator representing a largely rural state, Senator Obama supports
investing in rural communities by improving infrastructure, increasing
the availability of high-speed Internet access and cell phone service,
and supporting rural small businesses. Senator Obama is dedicated to
improving health care in rural areas, where it too often lags behind
health care in more densely populated parts of the country. John
McCain’s very brief rural and agricultural agenda claims he will
improve rural quality of life, but he offers no real methods to achieve
that goal.
