John M. Powe
Powe has worked as an accountant for the State of Alabama since June 1999.  He has been involved with campaigns in Alabama since 1986 and has managed a number of them, including Lee Wendell Loder for Council in Birmingham (1998, 2000, 2002), Oliver Robinson for state Representative (1997, 2001, 2005) state Sen. Sandra Escott's 2001 re-election campaign.  Graduate of Talladega College, 1993.

(assisted volunteers in setting up offices; also facilitator for Women for Obama)  Field organizer on various campaigns.  Community affairs coordinator for Birmingham Mayor Bernard Kincaid, 2004-07. In the 2004 cycle, Chatman worked on the Kerry and Kerry-Edwards campaigns.  Volunteer coordinator on Kincaid re-election campaign.  Degree in urban and rural development from Alabama A and M University.  From Birmingham.

Volunteers set up their own offices in Mobile, Jefferson, Madison, Perry and Sumter Counties.

Joe Turnham
Third stint over a 13 year period as chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party.  Organizational strategist and consultant.  Democratic nominee for the U.S. Congress in 1998 and 2002.  A founding director of the state's environmental lobby, Alabama League of Environmental Action Voters (today known as Conservation Alabama).  Worked for 18 years in a family business.

(started at the party in Feb. 2005)  In 2004 he was Alabama political director for Wesley Clark and then for John Kerry.  He served as the vice chair for county affairs for the Alabama Democratic Party for four years, and served as chairman of the Lamar County Democratic Executive Committee for 17 years.  Graduate of Auburn University, 1983.
